We are all creative...

I once heard someone comment that as far as they were concerned creativity wasnt for them as they werent 'arty'.

This is the major misconception of many people that creativity is something that is found only within the 'arts' world. If you cant do anything related to this area of life you arent creative.

We are all creative.  We just dont know it...no thats not right...we dont recognise it because we think it looks a certain way or sounds a certain way.  We dont recognise it because others have told us in the past that we arent creative or bashed it out of us because it doesnt look someone else, or they, had said it should.

Creativity is personal.  It should be held tight because its precious and we should realise it wont always look right to others because it is in essence us.

We are not just creative people our lives are 'creativity' in action.

Perhaps offensive at first, but in truth most of the things a brain does are without thinking and the brain will often even try not to think. Imagine walking over some rocks on a beach. Every step you take your brain is making amazing things happen you step freely from rock to rock without ‘thinking’. Would you walk along the same beach if before every step you looked at you options, reasoned each step in detail and tried to anticipate possible outcomes and consequences? I for one would say that is too much like hard work. So yes thinking time is not natural our brains try and rely on memory instead. Remember learning to drive. Constantly thinking how hard to push the pedal, what dangers are coming, not to mention reverse parking! How hard was that at the first time, but now you do the same actions you used to have to think about them because it is a memory responce not a thinking responce. The brain is bias towards not thinking, thinking is slow and often unrewarding when you think about what else the human brain can do. To quite Tom Cruise in Top Gun “You have not got time to think up there; if you think, your dead!” More often than not our blink response, our first thought, is the correct one. However thinking time is important as we are naturally curious and that is when we learn. So trust you blink response but thinking time allows us to explore, reason and anticipate and this should not be ruled out. Perhaps it is not thinking time we should be giving but curiosity time.
